Candide - White

Candide - White

For each beer, a concept, a story, drawn from the Abbey and its values.

Thus the purity of Candide, Maurice's faithful friend, inspires a beer with a white robe, whose light cereal aroma is enhanced by the fine hops selected. A pleasant and refreshing acidity is offset by the sweetness on the palate of this white with subtle bitterness. Its alcohol content is 4.2% vol.

The yeasts taken from a parchment dating from 1319 from the Abbey of Saint-Maurice reinforce the originality and authenticity of CANDIDE, which invites us to celebrate sincere friendship.

Brewery:

On the strength of its values and its tradition, but in keeping with the times, the Abbey wanted to carry out a unique project and create beers with a touch of originality. The range is made up of three beers: an abbey beer (DXV), a white beer (Candide) and an amber beer (Febris).

A unique project:

Unique in Switzerland, the Brewery uses personalized yeasts from a parchment from the Abbey dating from 1319 for its white beer; a start-up from the University of Lausanne has collected strains of yeast from within the Abbey itself, which give beer its unique and authentic taste. It is in an old cellar dating from 1244 that the only real abbey beer in Switzerland is created!

Each of the beers will convey, with its own history, the values of the Abbey and will highlight strong moments drawn from its fascinating history with an imprint of modernity. The subtle dosage of hops, malt and yeast coupled with the talent of the master brewer give each recipe a unique and original flavor. Abbey beer aims to bring people together in a spirit of community, to promote moments of sharing, conviviality and fraternity. It invites you to suspend time to open up to yourself and to the other.

A brewery with values:

The brewing activity will contribute to the enhancement and influence of the Abbey and its historical heritage dating back more than 1,500 years, as well as to the dynamism of the region. The expected income from the brewery aims to improve the delicate financial situation of the Abbey, to support it in the implementation of various projects of a social, environmental and cultural nature that it has been carrying out for a long time throughout the world.
